5.6 ELECTRICAL OPERATION
5.6.5 HEATER CIRCUIT
When the Knife is cold, the resistance of the Thermistor is high, and this causes the
Microprocessor to supply power to the Heaters allowing the temperature of the Knife
Blade to increase to 375°F (190°C). The resistance of the Thermistor drops as the
temperature rises, thus as the resistance changes, the Microprocessor constantly regulates
the temperature of the Knife.
Microprocessor will turn on the Ready LED and allow binding or debinding operations
to be performed. If the Microprocessor detects an overheat condition, it will remove
power from the heater circuit, and disable the binding and debinding operations.
5.6.6 BIND MOTOR CIRCUIT
The Bind Motor Speed and Bind Status Speed Indicator LEDS are controlled by the
Microprocessor. When the <1" bind mode is selected on the Membrane Switch, 16.4
VAC is applied to the bind circuit, and the <1" LED is illuminated. When the >1" bind
mode is selected on the Membrane Switch, 10.4 VAC is applied to the bind circuit, and
the >1" LED is illuminated.
When the Pressure Bar is lowered, actuating S11, the D.C. Bind Motor is energized,
starting the bind cycle. As the Camsha ft rotates, S13 de-actuates, providing an alternate
line to the Bind Motor. When the cycle is completed, the Pressure Bar raises, opening
S11. However, power is maintained to the Bind Motor through S13 until the Drive Gear
Lobe actuates S13, turning off the Bind Motor.
