5.6 ELECTRICAL OPERATION
5.6.1 POWER-UP CIRCUIT
Power is applied to the electrical system using the Membrane Switch "Start". This allows
power to go to the Microprocessor to start the heater circuit. The "Standby" LED will
illuminate, and the display window will show a chasing line for 45 seconds until the
machine is "Ready". The only functions that will operate until the Ready LED lights are
the Manual, Auto, and Foot Pedal Punch Modes.
5.6.2 MANUAL PUNCH CIRCUIT
When the machine is placed in the Manual Punch Mode, the Punch Motor and Punch
Brake Solenoid are energized when the "Punch" button of the Membrane Switch is
momentarily depressed. As the Punch Motor begins to rotate, the Punch Cam de-
actuates the Punch Cam Switch (S8) to supply an alternate neutral line to the Motor and
Solenoid. After the Punch has cycled, the Punch Cam actuates S8, turning off the Punch
Motor and Punch Brake Solenoid.
5.6.3 AUTO PUNCH CIRCUIT
When the machine is placed in the Auto Punch Mode by pressing the "Auto Punch"
button of the Membrane Switch, the Punch Motor and the Punch Brake Solenoid are
actuated when the Auto Punch Switch (S4) is actuated by the paper stack. After the
Punch has cycled, the Punch Cam actuates S8, turning off the Punch Motor and Punch
Brake Solenoid. Removing the paper stack opens the Auto Punch Switch (S4).
5.6.4. Foot Pedal Punch Circuit
When the machine is placed in the Auto Punch Mode, the Foot Pedal is also activated.
When the Foot Pedal is depressed by the operator, the Punch Motor and the Punch Brake
Solenoid are actuated. After the Punch has cycled, the Punch Cam actuates S8, turning
off the Punch Motor and Punch Brake Solenoid.
