5.5.9 PRESSURE BAR RETURN OPERATION - Figure 5-13
The Pressure Bar Return Mechanism consists of the Drive Gear (1), Drive Arm (2), and
Return Arm (3). The Drive Gear (1) is attached to the right end of the Camshaft (4,
Figure 5-7). When the Camshaft has made almost a full rotation, the teeth of the Drive
Gear (1) engage the teeth of the Drive Arm (2), pushing it up. A Roller (4) attached to
the Drive Arm (2) contacts the Return Arm (3), raising the Pressure Bar (1, Figure 5-10)
to the top of the Side Plate Slot, where it falls into its rest position. The teeth of the
Drive Gear (1) and Drive Arm (2) are now disengaged, and the Return Arm (3) drops to
its rest position on the Side Plate Tab (5).
The Camshaft (1, Figure 5-9) rotation is stopped by a Lobe on the Drive Gear (1)
contacting the Bind Timing Switch Actuator (6).
