the Web Monitor. The procedure is set out in the SIPROTEC System Description
tion.

Functional Scope

2.1.1
The 7SC80 features protection functions and auxiliary functions. The hardware and firmware are tailored to
these functions. Additionally, the control functions can be matched to the system requirements. Furthermore,
individual functions can be enabled or disabled during configuration, or the interaction of functions can be
modified.

Description

Setting the Scope of Functions
The available protection functions and additional functions can be configured as Enabled or Disabled. For
some functions, there is a choice between several alternatives possible, as described below.
Functions configured as Disabled are not processed in the 7SC80, there are no indications and the associ-

Setting Notes

Setting the Functional Scope
The protection device is configured using the DIGSI software. To do so, connect your personal computer either
to the USB interface on the top side of the device or to port F or on the side of the device, depending on the
device version (order variant). Operation using DIGSI is explained in the SIPROTEC 4 System Description.
The Device Configuration dialog box allows you to adjust your device to the specific system conditions.
Password no. 7 is required (for parameter set) for changing configuration parameters in the device. Without
the password the settings can only be read but not edited and transmitted to the device.
Special Features
Most settings are self-explanatory. The special cases are described in the following.
If you want to use the setting group change function, set address 103 Grp Chge OPTION to Enabled. In
this case, you can select up to 16 different groups of function parameters between which you can switch
quickly and conveniently during operation. When selecting the option Disabled, only one function param-
eter group can be used.
For the overcurrent elements of the overcurrent protection (for phase currents and ground current, respec-
tively), select different tripping characteristics at addresses 112 Charac. Phase and 113 Charac.
Ground. If only the definite time characteristic is desired, select Definite Time. Alternatively, you can
select between inverse time characteristics according to IEC standard (TOC IEC) or ANSI standard (TOC
ANSI). The dropout behavior of the IEC and ANSI characteristics is specified at address 1210 or 1310 when
configuring the time overcurrent protection.
Moreover, you can select recloser characteristics (Recloser Curves) or user-defined characteristics (User
Defined PU). With the recloser characteristics, dropout takes place immediately. For User Defined PU,
pickup and dropout behavior are defined individually.
