Functions
2.1 General
Spontaneous Indications
You can determine whether or not the most important data of a fault event are to be displayed automatically
after the fault has occurred (see also Subsection "Fault Indications" in Section "Auxiliary Functions").
Battery Monitoring
The battery monitoring function of the 7SC80 checks the state of an externally connected battery as used for
supplying disconnectors and for buffering in the event of supply-voltage failure. Apart from a test in trickle
charging mode, also a battery test under load is performed. For interaction with an external battery charger
and an external load impedance, the 7SC80 provides 2 binary signals. Thus, charger and battery can be
disconnected and a load impedance connected for test purposes. The 7SC80 cyclically executes the battery
test under load. However, this test can also be activated manually. Cycle time and voltage thresholds can be
parameterized. For signaling, indications and a multicolor LED are available. Moreover, the current measured
value of the battery voltage is provided.
Firmware Update
The 7SC80 provides the option to update the device firmware via Ethernet. To do so, you need the program
remote_firmware_update.exe which is available on the SIPROTEC homepage.
The function can be enabled or disabled.
Direct Control
With the parameter 618 Direct Control, you can change the meaning of the two Open/Close buttons on
the top of the operator panel or Web Monitor. This function can be enabled and disabled.
Service Interlocking
The service interlocking function allows you to block switching operations that can be triggered for the
configured switching devices via the device. Trip commands can still be executed; the automatic reclosing
function (AR) is disabled.
This is reasonable, for example, in case of ongoing maintenance work on the assigned disconnector/circuit
breaker.
The function is activated as follows:
HotLineTag int. using the operator panel or Web Monitor
HotLineTag ext. by a signal from a control center
>HotLineTag ext by an external input signal or CFC
The information can be connected as desired via the configuration matrix and displayed, for example, via the
LEDs of the operator panel.
Section
2.27.4 Interlocking
!
WARNING
Service interlocking does not open the disconnector or circuit-breaker contacts.
The function does not serve for disconnection of live equipment! It only prevents changes to the
existing switching states.
Service interlocking does not replace disconnection, protection against reclosing, check for de-energi-
²
zation, grounding and short-circuiting or covering/enclosing of live system parts.
