Modes of Operation
Auto mode: Allows the automatic generation of ON/OFF commands to the capacitor bank based on the line
end voltage. In addition, this mode disables the manual control.
Manual mode: Allows manual control of the capacitor bank via local or remote commands from the control
center. Auto mode should be switched OFF.
Standalone mode: Allows the capacitor bank control to operate independently of the rest of the Volt/VAR
system, using the local voltage only. This mode can be activated if the device loses communication to the
system. Auto mode should be switched OFF.
Simulation mode: Provides the option to simulate ON/OFF switching of the capacitor bank without any phys-
ical operation. In this mode, the capacitor bank control simulates the feedback from the capacitor bank and
provides it to the control center and the rest of the system. The simulation mode can be used for testing
purposes to check the system operation and communication during commissioning.

Description
Command to switch ON the capacitor bank
Command to switch OFF the capacitor bank
Feedback indication that the capacitor bank is switched ON
Feedback indication that the capacitor bank is switched OFF
Command to disconnect the capacitor bank if current imbalance caused by
the failed cap has been detected. A core balanced CT must be installed on
the cap neutral in the future to activate and use this functionality.

This input allows one single OFF command to be issued by the capacitor
bank control when the 7SC80 controller was initialized for the first time.
The single OFF command will synchronize the internal feedback with the
capacitor bank status.
Auto mode allows the capacitor bank control to work automatically as a part
of the SDFA Volt/VAR system, receiving voltage from the line end device. If
Auto mode is ON, manual and standalone mode are disabled.
ON command from the CFC logic. The capacitor bank control will use this
input if Auto mode is ON. In a typical Volt/VAR application, this input can be
connected via GOOSE to the undervoltage signal from the line end device.
OFF command from the CFC logic. The capacitor bank control will use this
input if Auto mode is ON. In a typical Volt/VAR application, this input can be
connected via GOOSE to the overvoltage signal from the line end device.
Undervoltage indication. The capacitor bank will be switched ON if stand-
alone operation is enabled.
Allows the capacitor bank control to operate independently of the rest of
the Volt/VAR system, using the local voltage only. Auto Mode must be
switched OFF.
Overvoltage indication. The capacitor bank will be switched OFF if stand-
alone operation is enabled.
Simulation mode ON/OFF input. Simulation mode allows switching the
capacitor bank ON/OFF for testing purposes without any physical operation.
