6.4 Leveling
the Print Head

4. Place a 0.020" thick media (for example, 5 sheets of 20 lb. bond) be-
neath print head assembly.
5. Loosen the screws on both ends of the upper shaft.
6. Adjust upper shaft so print head assembly is level. Slide the print head
assembly back and forth along the shaft to verify print head is level on
the media across the entire deck.
7. Tighten upper shaft and remove the media.
8. Replace rear cover and front top cover.
Adjusting the Print Head Parallelism (Lower Shaft Adjustment)
1. Remove rear cover (see section 5.2) and front top cover (see step 2 from
section 5.16).
2. Turn the thickness adjustment knob to send the print head assembly to
its lowest position.
3. Loosen the print head clamp knob and move the print head assembly
towards the customer side of deck.
4. Loosen the screws on both ends of the lower shaft.
5. Adjust lower shaft so print head assembly is parallel to deck. Slide the
print head assembly back and forth along the shaft to verify parallelism
across entire deck.
6. Tighten lower shaft.
7. Replace rear cover and front top cover.
