CHECKING THE COOLING SYSTEM

General note
Coolant hoses
Carry out visual inspection of all coolant hoses (1) for damage, leaks, hardening as a re-
sult of heat and porosity.
Water pump
Inspect all connections on the top and bottom of the cylinder head and on the water pump
(2).
Expansion tank
Inspect expansion tank (3) for damage. Inspect protection rubber at the bottom of the tank
for tight fit.
Radiator cap
Inspect the gasket of the radiator cap (4) and check the pressure release valve and return
valve for proper operation.

Never open the radiator cap when the cooling system is hot. For safety's sake, cover
cap with a rag and open slowly. Sudden opening of the cap could provoke the escape
of boiling coolant and result in scalding.
Use only coolant as recommended in the current Operators Manual
