where to disconnect wiring so that the ignition modules are not energized by the internal generator when the engine is rotated? I do not want to touch the pickup coils because that would change the timing.

To prevent the ignition modules from being energized by the internal generator when the engine is rotated on a Rotax 914 Series, disconnect the wiring from the charging coils. The charging coils supply energy to the ignition modules, so removing their connection will prevent the capacitors in the electronic modules from storing energy and firing the ignition system.
