4 Press the Home navigation key to return to the Opens
menu.
For accurate measurements, you can specify the cable fill
type and capacitance.
To specify the connected cable
1 Connect the Tip (A), Ring (B), and Ground (Earth) leads
to the line under test.
2 To specify the connection, press the Pair soft key, and
then select the one of the following:
– Tip to Ring (A to B)
– Ring to Gnd (Ground, or B to E)
– Tip to Gnd (A to E)
You can also press the left or right arrow key to move
among the connections.
NOTE:
When measuring from Tip (A) or Ring (B) to Ground (E),
you should connect the Ground (earth) lead to the shield
(ground), and be sure to enter the fill type or the distance
will not be accurate. If you connect to some other ground
that is not parallel to your pair, and do not enter the appro-
priate fill type, this measurement will be inaccurate. When
connecting T-R (A-B), you do not have to enter fill type.
3 To specify the fill type or change the capacitance based
on a type of cable, do the following (otherwise proceed
step 4):
a Press the up and down arrows, or press the Display
soft key and select the appropriate type.
