Measuring WB2
impulse noise
Impulse noise is spurious voltage spikes that can disrupt
digital transmissions.
The following procedure describes how to measure WB2
impulse noise.
To measure impulse noise
1
Connect the Tip (A) and Ring (B) leads to the line under
test, as described in
2
Press the Display soft key, then select WB2 TIMS.
3
Select Impulse Noise.
The Impulse Noise menu appears.
4
Select the type of test by performing the following steps.
a Press the Actions soft key.
b Select the type of test.

Timed
Untimed
5
Set the noise threshold by performing the following steps.
a Press the Actions soft key.
b Press the 4 key.
c Type the noise threshold, and press the OK key.
NOTE:
When the test is stopped, you can also change the thresh-
old by pressing the up or down arrows.
6
Optional. To change the threshold units, do the following.
a Press the Actions soft key.
b Press the 3 key.
This toggles between dBm and dBr n.
