Locating RFI The following procedure describes how to use the SDI-100 to

The SDI-100 (Spectral Detector and Identifier) is an optional
accessory used to help identify the source of radio frequency
interference (RFI). The SDI-100 can detect signals from
20 kHz to 30 MHz (supports ADSL and VDSL ranges).
The typical use for the SDI-100 is to troubleshoot anomalies
such as excessive impulse noise on the copper loop, large
noise spikes on a spectral graph, and DSL errors impacting
performance.
Before running any tests, verify that you have HST software
version 6.34.03 or higher (System>Tools>Options/Revs/
Copyright).

Select the Spectral test and then choose a span.

Press the Actions soft key, and then set the termination
to 100 ohms.

Press the Configure key, and then set the Averages
setting to 1.
This is the number of measurements to use for calculating
the average. If set to a low number, the spectral measure-
ments may look slightly erratic, because one measure-
ment may be slightly higher or lower than the next. So, if
