The HST-3000 can send and receive voiceband tones to
measure loop loss, perform a 3-tone slope test, dial the tele-
phone switch to receive a milliwatt tone, and measure trans-
mission impairment (noise, impulse noise, return loss).
Transmission impairment measurement is an optional feature
for the HST. For information about HST options, contact your
JDSU representative or contact JDSU through the company
web site, www.jdsu.com.
To access the Loss Measurement function

Access the Copper Measurements menu (see

Press the 6 key.
The Loss Meter menu appears.

Press the Actions soft key.

Select Termination, in ohms, for termination of the loop.

Proceed to one of the tests described in this section:
"Receiving tones" on page 54
"Transmitting tones" on page 55
"Measuring transmission impairment in the voiceband"
on page 57
The following procedure describes how to receive tones.
To receive tones
1
Connect the Tip (A), Ring (B), and Ground (Earth) leads
to the line under test.

Press the Actions soft key, then the 1 key.
