Series fault test

– Load Coil
– Bridged Tap
– Loop Resistance
– WB Loss
– WB SNR
– WB Balance
When finished, press the Accept soft key.
12 Do one of the following:
– Press the 1 key to save the configuration. Enter the file
name for the configuration file then press the OK key.
The HST-3000 saves the configuration and starts the
test.
– Press 2 to run the test without saving the configura-
tion.
13 Select the UFEDIIB pair. The test begins.
As the test runs, the status and results of the test are
displayed.
After running all tests, the status of the pair is displayed along
with advice on how to proceed.
Series faults are bad splices and usually one side has a higher
resistance than the other.Longitudinal balance, which runs to
an open, won't clearly show there is an issue especially if the
fault is far away.
The purpose of the Series Fault test is to:
– show the difference in the longitudinal balance when the
UFED is under the strap state versus the short state
– show the resistive leg balance
These two results will clearly show if there is a series fault.
