Problem solving information for the DECNIS 600 is divided into hardware
problems, Network Interface Card problems, software problems, and event
messages:
This part of the manual describes how to identify and solve DECNIS 600
hardware problems.
The Problem Solving card for each Network Interface Card shows how to
isolate Network Interface Card specific faults and check communication
lines.
The DEC Network Integration Server Problem Solving manual describes
how to isolate and solve software problems.
DEC Network Integration Server Event Messages is an online text file that
lists the event messages generated by the DECNIS 600 and tells you what
to do when an event is generated. Events can indicate faults with the
hardware, software, and the Network Interface Cards.
If you are not sure whether the problem can be isolated to, for example, the
DECNIS 600 or a Network Interface Card, start with the procedures in this
manual. The procedures will help you to determine where the problem lies.
Where problems overlap, you may be referred to other problem solving
documentation. For example, for problems that can usually be isolated
to the software, this manual refers you to the software problem solving
documentation before it suggests ways that you can check the hardware.
