• Apply locking agent (LOCTITE®) to the
threads of the bearing retainer bolt.

ASSEMBLING THE CRANKCASE

1. Thoroughly clean all the gasket mating sur-
faces and crankcase mating surfaces.
2. Apply:
• Sealant
(onto the crankcase mating surfaces)
Yamaha bond No. 1215
90890-85505
(Three Bond No.1215®)
TIP
Do not allow any sealant to come into contact
with the oil gallery.
3. Install:
• Left crankcase
(onto the right crankcase)
TIP
Tap lightly on the left crankcase with a soft-face
hammer.
4. Install:
• Crankcase bolts (M10)
• Crankcase bolts (M6)
• Oil baffle plate 1 bolts
Crankcase bolt (M10)
36 Nm (3.6 m·kgf, 26 ft·lbf)
Crankcase bolt (M6)
10 Nm (1.0 m·kgf, 7.2 ft·lbf)
Oil baffle plate 1 bolt
10 Nm (1.0 m·kgf, 7.2 ft·lbf)
TIP
• Apply locking agent (LOCTITE®) to the
threads of the right crankcase bolts and oil baf-
fle plate 1 bolts.
• Tighten the crankcase bolts in the proper tight-
ening sequence as shown in the illustration.
• M10 × 110 mm bolts
• M6 × 120 mm bolts: "a"
• Oil baffle plate 1 bolts: "b"
• M6 × 80 mm bolts
