Lubrication

An essential part of lubrication is cleaning the
components before lubricating them. This step
is critical because dust and chips build up on
lubricated components, which makes them hard
to move. Simply adding more lubrication to built-
up grime will not result in smooth-moving parts.
Clean the components in this section with an oil/
grease solvent cleaner or mineral spirits before
applying lubrication.
All bearings are sealed and permanently lubri-
cated. Leave them alone until they need to be
replaced. Refer to Page 66 for NLGI#2 grease
(T23964) available from Grizzly.
To reduce risk of shock or
accidental startup, always
disconnect machine from
power before adjustments,
maintenance, or service.
Slide Shafts
Lubrication Type ...T23964 or NLGI#2 Equivalent
Amount .............................................. 1–2 Pumps
Lubrication Frequency .....................6–12 Months
The blades and motors move up and down on
slide shafts that require adding lubricant to the
grease fittings shown in Figures 142–144.

Clean the chain links (see Figure 143) with a
brush and mineral spirits, then apply a light coat
of lubricant.

Tilt Leadscrew
Lubrication Type ...T23964 or NLGI#2 Equivalent
Amount .................................................Thin Coat
Lubrication Frequency .....................6–12 Months
Clean the threads of the tilt leadscrew (see
Figure 144) with a stiff brush and mineral spirits.
When dry, apply a thin coat of lubricant into the
threads with a brush and tilt the blade back and
forth a few times to distribute the grease.
