• Install the device in an open rack whenever possible. If installation in an enclosed rack is
unavoidable, ensure that the rack has adequate ventilation.
• Avoid placing the device in an overly congested rack or directly next to another equipment rack.
Otherwise, the heated exhaust air from other equipment can enter the inlet air vents and cause the
device to overheat.
• Maintain a minimum clearance of 3 inches (7.62 cm) on the left and right of the device for the
cooling air inlet and exhaust vents.
• Find a space on the rack which is at least 7 empty square holes in height on the rack posts.
The Scopia TIP Gateway takes up 3 holes (1U) on the posts. You need at least 2 additional holes
to slide the device into the rack.
