INDICATOR (HSI)
SECTION 1
GENERAL
The
Bendix/King KCS-55A Slaved Compass System with KI-
525A
HSI Indicator is
an additional navigation indicator option
.
The
KCS-55A
compass
system
includes
a
slaving
control
and
compensator
unit,
magnetic slaving
transmitter
and a remote
directional gyro.
The information
obtained
from the
KCS-55A
compass system is displayed on the KI-525A
Indicator.
The panel-mounted KI-525A
indicator
combines the display
functions of both
the
standard Directional Gyro (Heading
Indicator)
and
the
Course
Deviation
Indicator's
VOR/LOC/Glideslope
information to provide the pilot with a single visual presentation of
the complete horizontal navigation situation.
This
system
also
incorporates
a
slaving
accessory
and
compensator unit. This
unit
indicates any difference between the
displayed heading and the magnetic heading.
Up deflection
I
indicates a clockwise error of the compass card.
Down
deflection
indicates a counterclockwise error of the compass card. Whenever
the aircraft
is
in a turn and
the
compass card rotates,
it is
normal
for this meter to show a full deflection to one side or the other.
