An external uninterruptible power supply is recommended to protect the system
unit and any external components against utility power outages.
IBM Service Representatives perform the Model 595 initial installation and model
upgrades.
IBM is offering a service to aid in configuring partitioned systems. Customers can
order the charged #8453 Base Customer Placement. Configurations are built
with hardware components using placement information from the LPAR
Verification Tool (LVT). The customer is responsible for submitting LVT
information. #8453 is supported on new system builds.

Processor features

The processor features for the Model 595 include the:
#8981 Model 595 Processor book (POWER5 1.65 GHZ 0/16-way CCIN

– Two 8-way Multi Chip Modules (MCMs)
– Sixteen DDR1 memory card slots (cards plug into processor book planar)
– Six HSL-2/RIO-G adapter slots
#8461 Base activations for 16-way, 32-way, and 64-way systems
– Eight required with 16-way systems
– Sixteen required with 32-way systems
– Thirty-two required with 64-way systems
Additional single processor activations are orderable with #7925
Refer to "On Demand features" on page 178 for a cross reference of the
processor and CoD features.
