The computing industry is moving rapidly toward a network-centric world made
up of global networks. The newest releases of IBM i5/OS builds on this to make
the iSeries servers key players in this vibrant and vital area.
This chapter describes the features and enhancements of the iSeries operating
system product. The functionality and integrated capabilities of the operating
system are described in "i5/OS and OS/400 (5722-SS1): Architecture" on
page 503. Associated licensed programs and enhancements are described in
the following chapters of this Handbook.
