or by the #5709 if it is installed.
#6584 4-Disk Slot Expansion ( Withdrawn November 19, 2004 )
– It can be driven by a #5715 (non-raid) or #5703 (raid) disk controller in a
PCI slot of the system unit.
– It can not be controlled by the integrated base disk controller or by the
#5709 if it is installed.

a partition where the disk controller was owned by Linux or AIX (not using
the virtual disk option).
#6594 4-Disk Slot Expansion
– It can be driven by a #5715 (non-raid) or #5703 (raid) disk controller in a

– It cannot be controlled by the integrated base disk controller or by the
#5709 if it is installed.
– The #6594 repositions the SCSI cable connector so that a long card can
be placed in card slot 4 and forces card slot 5 to be a short card.
– With #6594 the disk controller can be controlled by a second IOP. This
means that you can have a second i5/OS partition in just the CEC or you
could have a partition where the disk controller is owned by Linux or AIX
(not using the virtual disk option).
Uninterruptible power supply
An external uninterruptible power supply is recommended to protect the
system unit and any external components against utility power outages.
