HDCP-compliant sink
All devices are HDCP-compliant, no special setting is required, both protected and
unprotected content is transmitted and displayed on the sink.
Non-HDCP-compliant sink (HDMI/DVI) 1.
Non-HDCP compliant display device is connected to the receiver. Some sources (e.g.
computers) always send HDCP encrypted signals if the receiver device reports HDCP
compliancy, however HDCP encryption is not required all the time (e.g. computer desktop
image). If HDCP is enabled in the extenders, the image will not be displayed.
On MODEX extenders HDCP mode can be set to Auto. In this case the transmitted signal
will not be encrypted if the content is not protected. Thus non-HDCP compliant sinks will
display non-encrypted signal.
Non-HDCP-compliant sink (HDMI/DVI) 2.
The layout is the same as in previous case: non-HDCP compliant display device is
connected to the receiver. Now the difference is that the content is protected, thus the
source is sending encrypted signal. In this case the extenders' HDCP setting has no effect:
the source sends encrypted signal, since the content is protected. The display device will
show blank red, muted screen or pop up an error message that the sink is not HDCP-
compliant. The solution is to replace the display device to a HDCP-capable one.
