Shutting down the switch
Use this procedure to safely shut down a switch without interfering with device processes or
corrupting the software image. After the shutdown command is issued, the configuration is
saved, auto-save functionality is temporarily disabled, and configuration changes are not
allowed until the switch restarts. If the shutdown is cancelled, auto-save functionality returns
to the state in which it was previously functioning.
Procedure
1. Log on to ACLI in Privileged EXEC command mode.
2. At the command prompt, enter the following command:

force
minutes-to-wait<1–60>
cancel

shutdown [force] [minutes-to-wait <1–60>] [cancel]
Variable
Value
Forces the shutdown without confirmation.
Specifies the number of minutes to wait
before the shutdown occurs.
DEFAULT: 10
Cancels a scheduled shutdown any time
during the time period specified by the
minutes-to-wait <1–60> parameter.
