Chapter 5: Configuring the management IP

Setting the IP address

Use this procedure to set the IP address and subnet mask for the switch, clear the existing IP
address and subnet mask, or return the IP address and subnet mask to the default value.
Important:
When you change the IP address or subnet mask, you can lose connection to Telnet and
the Web. You also disable any new Telnet connection, and you must connect to the serial
Console port to configure a new IP address.
Procedure
1. Log on to the ACLI Global Configuration mode.
2. At the command prompt, enter the following command:

The following table describes the parameters for the ip address command.

[default] [no] ip address <A.B.C.D> [netmask <A.B.C.D>]
Variable
Value
Enters the IP address or subnet mask of the
switch in the format XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX;
netmask is optional.
Sets the IP subnet mask for the switch
Sets the IP address for the specified unit to
the default value of 192.168.1.1.
Clears the IP address and subnet mask; this
changes the IP address and submask mask
for a switch to all zeros (0).
