D Using [MAIN DIAL]
q Push [UP ∫] or [√ DN] one or more times to se-
lect a desired ham band.
w Push [MODE] one or more times to select a de-
sired operating mode. (p. 20)
e Rotate [MAIN DIAL] to set an operating fre-
quency.
D Entering a frequency from the keypad
The transceiver has a keypad for direct frequency
entry.
q Push [F-INP/ENT].
w Enter an operating frequency with the numeric
keys on the keypad.

• For general coverage receiver use
The IC-718 has a general coverage receiver band.
q Push [UP ∫] or [√ DN] one or more times to se-
lect the general coverage receiver band.
NOTE: Even if you select a ham band, you can se-
lect a general coverage frequency. When the dis-
played frequency exits the transmit frequency
range (ham band), a band edge beep may sound,
depending on the presetting.
• Push [•] to enter "•" (decimal point) between the MHz
and kHz digits.
• To cancel the input, push [SET] (or any key except a
keypad key.
• When you enter the same MHz digits as the displayed
frequency, the step w can be skipped.
e Push [F-INP/ENT] to set the entered frequency.
• When you push [F-INP/ENT] after entering the MHz dig-
its, zeros are automatically entered for the kHz digits.
