RECEIVE AND TRANSMIT
ï Attenuator
The attenuator prevents desired signals from distort-
ing when the receive signal is very strong or when very
strong electric fi elds, such as from broadcasting sta-
tions, are near your location.
➥ Each push of [ATT] toggles the 20 dB attenuator
function ON or OFF.
• "ATT" appears when the attenuator is ON.
ï Noise Blanker
The Noise Blanker (NB) reduces pulse-type noise
such as that generated by automobile ignition sys-
tems.
q Push the [NB] switch to turn the noise blanker ON
or OFF.
w Hold down [NB] for 1 second to enter the noise
blanker level Set mode.
e Rotate [DIAL] to adjust the noise blanker level.
r Push [NB] to exit the Set mode.
t Push [NB] again to turn the noise blanker func-
tion OFF.
• "NB" disappears.
• When using the noise blanker, received signals
may be distorted if they are excessively strong.
• The noise blanker function in the AM mode can
be turned ON or OFF in the initial set mode set-
ting. (p. 45)
ï Meter peak hold
The meter peak hold function keeps the highest dis-
played bar segment in any meter function for about
0.5 seconds so that you can read the meter indication
easier. This function can be turned ON or OFF in the
initial Set mode (p. 45).
