8.7 Replacing Consumable Parts

Some consumable parts, such as the print head and platen roller, will wear out over time and can be
replaced easily. This section describes the procedures to replace these parts.
Note
• Use only SATO genuine consumable parts for replacement.
Contact your SATO reseller or technical support center for parts ordering information.
• Regular cleaning may extend the life span of some print heads and platen rollers. Refer to
Maintenance of the Print Head and Platen Roller
8.7.1

Replacing the Print Head

You can easily remove and replace a damaged or worn print head.
Before replacement
Perform a factory test print and check the head counter.
WARNING
• Do not touch the power switch, connect or disconnect the power cord while your hands are wet. Doing so
could cause an electric shock.
• Disconnect the power cord from the AC outlet before you replace the print head.
• Wear gloves before replacing the print head, to prevent damage to the print head.

Make sure that the printer is in power off
mode, then disconnect the power cord
from the AC outlet.

Open the top cover.
CAUTION
Open the top cover fully to prevent accidental drop of
the cover.
