Starter Test (Part 1 of 2)
CONDITION: Key ON, transmission in neutral and clutch engaged
Depress starter button.
Does Starter work?
YES
Neutral interlock OK.
See 2 of 2.
YES
Repair open on TN/Lt.GN
wire between diode and
start relay.
Check for ground on TN/Lt.GN wire of Diode.
Ground present?
NO
Check for ground at TN/Y
wire on Diode. Ground
present?

Check Diode with ohm-

meter. Diode OK?
YES
Diode installed backwards.

Reverse polarity.
NO
Remove sprocket cover.
Check for ground at
neutral switch terminal.
Ground present?
NO
Repair open on TN/Y
Replace
wire between neutral
diode.
