CYLINDER HEAD SERVICING
Compress
the
valve sp rings w
ith
the
specia
l
too ls.
Remove the
va lve cotters.

spring compressor

Tweezers
Remove the
valve sp ring
ratainer.
inner spring
and outer
spnng.
Remove
the
va lves.
Remove
the
o
il
seal,
and
remove the
spring
seat.
NOTE:
Removal of valves completes ordinary disassembling
work.
If
valve
guides
have to
be
removed for replacement after
inspection related parts,
carry
out
the
steps shown in valve
guide servicing.
CYLINDER HEAD DISTORTION
Decarbon the combustion
chamber
.
Check
the
gasketed surface o
f
the
cylinder head
for
distor+
tion
with a straightedge and
thickness
gauge, taking
a
clear-
ance
reading
at several
places
as
indicated.
If
the
largest
reading
at
any
position
of
the
straightedge exceeds
the
limit,
replace
the
cylinder
head
.

0 .05
mm

Measure

e thickness
(1)and,
if the thickness
is
found to
have been
reduced
to
the
limit. replacle
th
e valve
.
NOTE:
Visually inspect each
valve for wear
of its seating
face.
Replace
any valve with an 8bnormally
worn face.
