Step 3.
To clear the TMM system-event log, select System Event Log ➙ Clear System Event Log, then,
press Enter twice.

POST

When you turn on the server, it performs a series of tests to check the operation of the server components
and some optional devices in the server. This series of tests is called the power-on self-test, or POST.
Note: This server does not use beep codes for server status.
If a power-on password is set, you must type the password and press Enter (when you are prompted), for
POST to run.
If POST detects a problem, an error message is sent to the POST event log, see "System event logs" on
page 49 for more information.

Error messages

This section provides the list of error codes and messages for UEFI/POST, TMM, and diagnostic that are
generated when a problem is detected.
See Appendix A "TMM error messages" on page 157 and Appendix C "Diagnostic error messages" on page
213 for more information.

Troubleshooting by symptom

Use the troubleshooting tables to find solutions to problems that have identifiable symptoms.
If you cannot find a solution to the problem in these tables, and Appendix C "Diagnostic error messages" on
page 213 for more information about testing the server. For additional information to help you solve
problems, see "Start here" on page 43.
If you have just added new software or a new optional device and the server is not working, complete the
following steps before you use the troubleshooting tables:
Step 1.
Check the system-error LED on the operator information panel.
Step 2.
Remove the software or device that you just added.
Step 3.
Run Lenovo ThinkServer Diagnostics Tool to determine whether the server is running correctly (for
information about using Lenovo ThinkServer Diagnostics Tool, see Appendix C "Diagnostic error
messages" on page 213).
Step 4.
Reinstall the new software or new device.

General problems

• Follow the suggested actions in the order in which they are listed in the Action column until the problem is
solved.
• If an action step is preceded by '(Trained technician only)', that step must be performed only by a Trained
technician.
