Meridian Mail Reporter 2.0 User's Guide
If AMIS Virtual Node networking is not being used, then an estimate of the local
site blocking percentage can be performed to see if the modem capacity is
sufficient.
• The busiest hour's connect time from this graph can be compared to the maximum
possible connect time (60 minutes each) for the number of networking modems
on the system.
• The ratio of the connect time to maximum possible connect time is an
approximate estimate of the probability that an inbound or outbound network
attempt will be blocked.
• If the ratio exceeds 40%, consider adding modems to the local site.
Other indicators of networking problems include the following:
• A large number of Times Site Unavailable may indicate voice circuit quality or,
possibly, marginal modem operation problems between sites. Run the SEER
Query Report for the time interval with filters set to capture classes 36 and 37 to
see if any networking SEERs were generated for the failures.
• A large number of Failed Network Sessions indicates insufficient network modem
or channel capacity at the remote site to handle the incoming networking calls.
• A large number of Undelivered Messages indicates that there are severe
networking problems at the remote site. Alert the remote site's administrator to
the likelihood that there is a problem with the site's networking. If multiple sites
are experiencing the same problems, the local site's networking is the likely
source of the problems.
AMIS Open Networking Activity Report
Use this report to show the AMIS Open networking activity over a specified time
interval. The data provides indicators of networking problems. AMIS Virtual Node
Networking activity is not included in this report.
