Inaccurate measurements can be caused by:
incorrect application of the O
placement of the O
blood pressure cuff, arterial catheter, or intravascular line
ambient light
excessive patient activity
intravascular dyes or externally applied coloring, such as
nail polish or pigmented cream
failure to cover the O
material in high ambient light conditions
Loss-of-pulse signal can occur for the following reasons:
the O

a blood pressure cuff is inflated on the same extremity as
the one with the O
there is arterial occlusion proximal to the O
poor peripheral profusion
Select an appropriate O
