SBC
brake system
TM
The SBC
brake system combines a hy-
draulic brake system with an electronically
controlled brake boosting effect. This pro-
vides increased braking safety and com-
fort.
As well as the braking function, SBC
has the convenience features SBC Stop
( page 168) and SBC Hold ( page 172).

Risk of accident
In the event of malfunctions in the SBC
brake system or the brake, the 3 warn-
ing lamp in the speedometer lights up. Al-
ways follow the instructions in the
multi-function display. Read the "Practical
TM
also
advice" section ( page 237) and
( page 288) for information on the types of
malfunction and follow the procedures de-
scribed in the event of a malfunction.
TM
If the SBC
brake system malfunctions,
Mercedes-Benz recommends that you have
the vehicle transported on a transporter or
trailer.
G
Risk of accident
TM
The brake system requires electrical energy.
If there are faults in the power supply or the
vehicle's electrical system, the brake sys-
tem switches over to emergency operating
mode. Greater braking force will then be re-
quired and the pedal travel is longer. The
stopping distance will be increased. If nec-
essary, depress the brake pedal with maxi-
mum force.
TM
Have the SBC
brake system checked as
soon as possible at a qualified specialist
workshop which has the necessary special-
ist knowledge and tools for the work re-
quired. Mercedes-Benz recommends that
you have such work carried out at an SLR
Service Centre.
In particular, work relevant to safety or on
safety-related systems must be carried out
at a qualified specialist workshop.
