Brake wear
Risk of injury
Only have brake pads replaced and other
TM
work on the SBC
brake system carried out
at a qualified specialist workshop which has
the necessary specialist knowledge and
tools for the work required. Mercedes-Benz
recommends that you have such work car-
ried out at an SLR Service Centre. In partic-
ular, work relevant to safety or on
safety-related systems must be carried out
at a qualified specialist workshop.
TM
The SBC
brake system must be deactivat-
ed before carrying out work on it.
262
Possible cause/conse-
quence
The brake pads have reached
their wear limit.
G
It occasionally builds up high brake pressure
automatically in order to test the system. If
you do not deactivate the SBC
tem before carrying out maintenance work,
there is a danger of crushing injuries caused
by brake pistons being pushed out, and of
acid burns caused by brake fluid escaping,
TM
see "SBC
brake system" ( page 88).
Possible solution
Have the brake pads replaced as soon as possible. Con-
sult your PLM or a qualified specialist workshop, e.g. an
SLR Service Centre.
!
Excessive load on the brake system causes
increased wear of brake pads and brake disks. If
the brake pads have to be replaced multiple
TM
brake sys-
times within one service interval, the brake disks
must be checked. Observe the information given
in the Service Booklet and contact a qualified
specialist workshop, e.g. an SLR Service Centre.
