Problem

The yellow ABS indicator
lamp lights up while the en-
gine is running.
Possible cause/consequence

ABS has been deactivated due to a mal-
®
function. This means that ESP
and BAS
are also deactivated.
If the ABS control unit is malfunctioning,
other systems such as the automatic
transmission may also have malfunc-
tioned.
The SBC
TM
brake system continues to
function with normal braking effect but
with no support from these functions. The
wheels could therefore lock if you brake
hard, for example.

Continue driving, but with even greater care.
Observe the additional messages in the mul-
ti-function display ( page 237).
Switch off consumers that are not required,
e.g. interior lighting.
Consult your PLM or immediately visit a
qualified specialist workshop which has the
necessary specialist knowledge and tools
for the work to be done. Mercedes-Benz rec-
ommends that you have such work carried
out at an SLR Service Centre. In particular,
work relevant to safety or on safety-related
systems must be carried out at a qualified
specialist workshop.
