CAUTION:
to ensure proper operation, an MX10016 must be adequately grounded before it is
connected to power.
For installations that require a separate grounding conductor attached to the chassis,
use the protective earthing terminal on the rear panel of the MX10016 to connect to
earth ground.
An AC- powered MX10016 gets additional grounding when you plug the power supply
in the router into a grounded AC power outlet by using an AC power cord appropriate
for your geographical location. See
2. Install power supplies in the router, and apply power. See

Connecting DC Power to an MX10016

The overall process of powering on a DC-powered chassis involves the proper cabling of the individual
power supplies, adding the power supplies to the chassis, and supplying power. Although this sequence
can start incrementally with a single power supply, we recommend that you power on an MX10016 router
with at least three power supplies.
Each power supply input feed must be connected to a dedicated DC power source outlet.
Before you begin connecting power to the router, be sure you understand how to prevent electrostatic
discharge (ESD) damage. See

Supply" on page
190.
