Data backup procedure

Data backup has been implemented in an external program to minimize disruption to normal
OS server operation. The program exports the content of the archive to a csv file and then
copies this file to the two backup paths.
The exported csv file is always stored in the project directory in the "Engineeringtools\ua_tmp"
folder. From this location, the file can then be copied to the two backup directories. If you are
only using one backup directory, this directory must be specified in the engineering tool under
path 1; path 2 must be empty.
The temporary export file is deleted once the files have been copied to the backup directory.
If errors occur in copying the files, the temporary export file is not be deleted, which means
you can copy it manually.
Note
Because a large number of archives and associated backup actions can place a heavy load
on the server, you should make sure that the various backup actions are not scheduled at the
same time. Specify the backup times in minutes, for example, to avoid triggering multiple
backup actions at the same time.

User archives

APF uses user archives for data management.
The engineering tool automatically generates the necessary archives:
● Some upon initial startup
● Others upon initial processing of an APF module
● The remaining required archives when blocks are generated
If possible, you should not operate the user archive manually during runtime, as this can result
in blockages and inconsistent data.
The WinCC help has information on user archives regarding:
● Performance data (e.g. number of data cells)
● Keywords (which must not be used as cell names)
