Additional information
The alarm is raised if an SNMP poll of
the SysUpTimeAlarm OID fails. The
likely cause of the failure is that the
SNMP agent on the managed device is
not reachable. By default, the
5620 SAM polls the managed devices
every 2 min. If the poll fails, the
alarm is raised.
The 5620 SAM polls the device 2 min
after the first failure. If successive
polls fail, the 5620 SAM raises the
polling interval for the device by two
minutes after each failure to a
maximum of 12 min. The polling
interval remains at 12 min until the
5620 SAM receives a response from
the device.
The alarm is cleared when the
5620 SAM receives a response from
the device. When the alarm clears,
the 5620 SAM GUI icon that
represents the managed device turns
from red to green.
Possible causes of the failed poll
include the following:
The network management LAN is
congested.
The device is too busy to
respond.
The alarm is raised when a
tmnxTrapDropped notification is
received from the NE to indicate that
the NE has dropped a trap. This
results in a resynchronization of the
table associated with the dropped
trap.
This alarm is raised when a managed
device cannot be reached using the
ping function.
