Manual parking brake release
The manual parking brake release is next
to the fuel filler cap under the fuel filler
flap.

Risk of injury
The vehicle may start moving of its own ac-
cord if you release the parking brake manu-
ally. Make sure that nobody is present
behind or in front of the vehicle. There is oth-
erwise a risk of a serious or fatal accident.
Move the transmission selector lever to P
and secure your vehicle using the wheel
chock from the vehicle tool kit.

3 Protective cap
Move the transmission selector lever to
P ( page 256).
Place the wheel chock from the vehicle
tool kit ( page 381) under one of the
rear wheels.
Open fuel filler flap 1.
Remove protective cap 3 from the re-
lease cable.
Screw release tool 2 from the vehicle
tool kit ( page 381) clockwise onto
the release cable.

Practical advice
Locking/unlocking in an emergency
Pull release tool 2 in the direction of
the arrow.
The parking brake is released. The
red ! parking brake indicator lamp
in the instrument cluster flashes. The
"Parking brake See Owner's Manual"
message appears in the driver's dis-
play.
After the parking brake has been released,
it is possible to apply it from the driver's
seat again.
Press the parking brake handle
( page 254).

If it is not possible to apply the parking
brake, pull the release tool for longer.
