Risk of accident
Never leave children unsupervised in the ve-
hicle. They could release the parking brake
if the ignition is switched on. This could lead
to a serious or fatal accident.

Risk of fire
Make sure that the exhaust system does not
under any circumstances come into contact
with easily ignitable material such as dry
grass or petrol. The material could other-
wise ignite and set parts of the vehicle
alight.

1 Switch for the parking brake
Releasing the parking brake manually
Pull switch 1.
The red ! indicator lamp in the in-
strument cluster goes out.
You can only release the parking brake if
the key is in the ignition or the KEYLESS
GO key is in the vehicle.

Releasing the parking brake automati-
cally
The parking brake in your vehicle is re-
leased automatically if:
the engine is running
the transmission is in position D or R
the bonnet is closed
you are wearing your seat belt
you accelerate
The boot lid must be closed if the transmis-
sion is in position R. If the seat belt is not
inserted in the buckle, the driver's door
must be closed and the transmission posi-
tion P must be deselected.
Applying the parking brake manually
Press switch 1.
The red ! indicator lamp in the in-
strument cluster comes on.

On steep slopes, turn the front wheels to-
wards the kerb.

You can also apply the parking brake when
there is no key in the ignition lock.
