never allow children to travel in the vehi-
cle while sitting on the lap of another oc-
cupant. It would not be possible to
restrain the child due to the forces oc-
curring in the event of an accident,
heavy braking or sudden change in di-
rection. They may be thrown against
parts of the vehicle interior and be seri-
ously or fatally injured
all vehicle occupants must always have
their seat belts fastened correctly
if you fit a child restraint system to the
front-passenger seat, you must move
the front-passenger seat as far back as
possible
G
Risk of injury
If the child restraint system is not fitted cor-
rectly to a suitable seat, the child may not be
secured in the event of an accident or sud-
den braking and may be seriously or fatally
injured. When fitting a child restraint sys-
tem, you must observe the manufacturer's
installation instructions for the child re-
straint system.
Child restraint systems should preferably be
fitted to the rear seats. The child is generally
better protected there.
Never place objects, e.g. cushions, under
the child restraint system. The entire base of
the child restraint system must always be
resting on the seat cushion.
A child restraint system must not be used
without the genuine cover designed for it.
Only replace damaged covers with genuine
covers.
On the rear seats, only use child restraint
systems that have been recommended for
use in Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
"Universal" category child restraint sys-
tems are recognisable by their orange ap-
proval label. The label is affixed to the child
restraint system and identifies the type of
child restraint system.
