The transmission shifts to a lower gear

depending on the engine speed.

Once the desired speed has been

reached, shift up again.

If you apply full throttle, the automatic trans-

mission shifts up to the next gear at maximum

engine speed. This prevents the engine from

overrevving.

If you brake the vehicle or come to a halt

without shifting down, the automatic transmis-

sion shifts down to the gear that will allow the ve-

hicle to accelerate or pull away again.

Deactivating

Press program selector button 1

( page 261) repeatedly until the letter

S or C appears in the driver's display.

Restart the engine.

The automatic transmission shifts to

the automatic drive program in which

the vehicle was last parked.
