Set the spacer on the lower part of the spring with its deeper groove facing up.

If the spring force is not enough, set the spacer on the lower part of the spring with its shallow groove facing up.

Enter the Configuration Menu, and then navigate to:
Scanner Manual Registration > Print Quick Test

Remove all the pages from the ADF, place the Quick Test page on the flatbed, and then select Copy Quick Test.
Do this step to view the current flatbed registration values.
