11 31 035 Removing and installing or replacing
camshaft bearing caps/camshaft
•
Remove screw for chain tensioner, insert stud,
BMW No. 11 7 531, in tapped bore and reinstall
screw.

Note:
The camshafts can also be removed and installed
complete with the camshaft gears.

Note:
The fastener for the camshaft gear is secured with
thread-locking compound.
•
Remove fasteners and remove camshaft gears.
•
Remove 8 securing screws.
•
Remove camshaft bearing cap.
•
Remove camshafts.
•
Remove camshaft bearing seat.
•
Measure bucket tappets.
•
Remove traces of thread-locking compound
from threads of camshafts and chain guide.
