Replacing bearing sleeve, right

– Remove drive swinging arm mounts

Remove bolt (3) for joint.
•
Remove link (2) of swinging-arm mount.
•
Remove bearing sleeve (1) on right.
When installing:
•
Installation is the reverse of the removal proce-
dure: pay particular attention to the following.
•
Lightly grease bearing sleeve (1) with
Shell Retinax EP2.
e
Caution:
The projection of the link for the swinging-arm bear-
ing mount (2) is wider on the right than on the left!
Take this into account when installing the link for
swinging-arm bearing mount (2)!
Operating fluids:
Shell Retinax EP2

Tightening torques:
Bolt for joint.................................................. 73 Nm

Replacing left/right bearing bushing

– Remove drive swinging arm mounts.

Remove bolt (3) for joint.
•
Remove link (2) of swinging-arm mount.
•
Note bearing sleeve (1) on right.
Additional work: bearing bushing on right:
– Remove right bearing sleeve (1).

•
Remove bearing bushings (arrow) on left and
right with puller, BMW No. 00 8 572 and internal
puller (21/3), BMW No. 00 8 574.
When installing:
•
Installation is the reverse of the removal proce-
dure: pay particular attention to the following.

Caution:
The projection of the link for the swinging-arm bear-
ing mount (2) is wider on the right than on the left!
Take this into account when installing the link for
swinging-arm bearing mount (2)!

Tightening torques:
Bolt for joint.................................................. 73 Nm
