Installing telescopic fork

Installation is the reverse of the removal proce-
dure: pay particular attention to the following:
Remove all traces of old thread-locking com-
pound from the threads.
Tighten the fastener securing the brake line to
the slider tube bridge.

Caution:
Check that the system moves freely by compress-
ing/extending the suspension in the straight-ahead
position and with the steering turned to the full lock
positions.

Caution:
When installing new telescopic forks, check the
clearance of the ABS sensor.
Additional work when installing new telescopic forks
Check the ABS sensor gap and adjust if neces-
sary

Caution:
Do not operate the handbrake lever when the brake
calliper has been removed.
Protect painted parts from scratching: apply adhe-
sive masking tape if necessary.
00 1 570
Raise the vehicle with lifter, BMW No. 00 1 570.
Lower the front wheel (move the large lever of the
parking mechanism down).
Remove the brake calliper.
