Open hose clips at return hose and in front of
distributor.
•
Remove silencer (muffler)
•
Open cable tie for ABS sensor cable to second-
ary swinging arm.
•
Remove secondary swinging arm
•
Remove wheel nut.
•
Position car jack at drive swinging arm beneath
gearbox and raise the jack until the rear wheel is
clear of the ground.
•
Remove the lower screws securing the spring
struts and tie up out of the way.

Note:
Swing the brake anchor forward and pull the bush-
ing out of the wheel. Pull brake anchor with brake
calliper carefully away from the brake disc. Remove
brake anchor with brake calliper.
•
Remove wheel.

Support the weight of the vehicle on car jack po-
sitioned beneath frame.
•
Secure bow, BMW No. 11 0 651, to drive swing-
ing arm.
•
Remove fastener securing suspension and re-
move axle.
•
Remove the fasteners securing the spring struts
to the drive swinging arm and tie up out of the
way.
•
Using extension, BMW No. 11 0 652, and stand,
BMW No. 00 1 490, pull drive swinging arm to
the rear and remove.
