RAM Styles and Flash RAM

Thanks to the velocity of the internal hard disk, a Style stored in any Folder of the hard disk can be loaded in RAM. The Style can be loaded
while the Arranger is running or when it is stopped and it only takes a matter of seconds. On the contrary to the Custom Styles stored in Flash
RAM, a RAM Style is lost when the instrument is turned off. Deciding whether a Style is to be loaded in RAM or in Flash RAM is an organisational
choice but from a practical point of view the only difference is the loading time and the possibility, using the Custom Styles, to have your pre-
ferred Styles as soon as you turn the SD1 on. However, for the RAM Styles too it is possible to create a list of Styles to be loaded when turning
the instrument on.
It is no longer possible, as was the case for Ketron X1, to copy and load one or a number of Styles in floppy disk to Flash RAM but they must first
be copied on hard disk then must be loaded from there. The Ram Styles constitute the transition from hard disk to RAM. To distinguish a RAM
Style in RAM from a Style in Flash RAM, the display shows "DISK" under the name and the number of the Style loaded.
The RAM Styles can be loaded one at a time (Single RAM Style) or in block (Block RAM Style). The more complete options are provided with
Master Folder enabled, but the single Styles can also be loaded from a Folder that is not correlated to Master Folder. The table below illus-
trates the differences:
Function
Single RAM Style – Loading from main page of display
Single Ram Style – Loading with Arranger running
Display of the list of Styles stored in the Folder (Pattern List)
Display of the Folder contents
Reference Folder
Cancel a Style in RAM
Display of the memory available and of the memory required by the Style
Creation of a Block RAM Style
Loading directly in Flash RAM

LOADING RAM STYLES WITH MASTER FOLDER ENABLED.

There are two ways of loading a single Style: The first is used to directly call up the Style by entering the number assigned within Folder 95
Styles. The second is used to display a list of all the Styles in Folder 95 Styles from which that desired is selected, or to display the whole con-
tents of Folder 95 Styles.

DIRECTLY LOADING A SINGLE RAM STYLE

From the main page of the display, enable the MASTER FOLDER push button and the SINGLE RAM STYLE.
Ensure that the BLOCK/LIST push button is not lit.
Enter the 3-figure number of the Style to be loaded using the numeric keypad (STYLES push buttons). The status of the Arranger is not
important.
The symbol "#" will appear next to the name of the Style to point out that the SD1 is loading it in RAM.
Upon completion, the name of the Style loaded appears without any symbol.
To call up the Custom Styles press the CUSTOM STYLE push button.

LOADING ONE OR A NUMBER OF SINGLE RAM STYLES WITH PATTERN LIST

From the main page of the display, enable the MASTER FOLDER push button.
Press the BLOCK/LIST push button. The page that is called up shows all the Styles (in Pattern format) stored in Folder 95 Styles. See the
next section for the functions available in this page.
