The sampler

The SD1 sampler is used to record new sounds using the Micro 1 audio input and can also handle Wave files created on PC using the floppy disk.
The characteristics of the SD1 include the processing of the 16-bit signal with sampling frequency of 44,1 kHz in monphony. One of the special
features is the possibility to create a Multi-sample file exploiting up to a maximum of 64 samples arranged over the keyboard and therefore
achieving an amazing timbre over the octaves of the keyboard. The sampler can also record and handle audio files to be combined with both
Styles and Midi files, as already explained in the relative sections. The automatic function loads an audio file or a Sound Block (a number of
audio files grouped in one single file) when a Style or Midi file is called up having the same name as the audio file. There is no need to use an
external editor as the SD1 is provided with some of the most important editing functions on the waveform, displayed in graph form.
Considering that the sampler shares the standard RAM with the RAM/Flash bank, before starting you must cancel all the contents of this bank,
which is done automatically. A warning message will appear requesting you to confirm using F10 Exec or to cancel using F5 Escape.
To access the sampler menu simply press the SAMPLER MPS push button situated to the left of the control panel. Bear the following in mind:
Only one sampling can be performed at a time. When a new sampling is started the whole RAM of the Sampler section is cancelled. Therefore
when the sampling is completed record the result to avoid loosing it.
A lot of memory space can be saved by attempting to exploit short samples and samples with loops in the best way possible.
Up to eight Multi-sample files can be achieved with 32 samples each at the most.
All samples are saved in Wave format with .WAV extension.
The initial page of the menu shows the time value in seconds in the middle (this can be modified) that corresponds to the length of the sample
being recorded.

RECORDING AND SAVING IN BRIEF

Below is an example of a typical sampling session:
Connect the audio signal source to Micro 1 input, such as a microphone or the output of an electronic instrument (not the output of the
amplifier!)
Adjust the Gain cursor next to the audio inputs to obtain the maximum signal level without distortion, in which case the Micro Input Overload
LED will light up.
Enable the sampler by pressing the SAMPLER push button. If the RAM/Flash bank has some sounds, the SD1 will warn the user that the whole
contents will be cancelled with this procedure. When the message appears press F10 Exec to continue or F5 Escape to cancel.
Set the duration of the registration by pressing F2 Time and enter the value using the VALUE +/- push buttons.
Start recording by pressing F10 Start and the SD1 enters the stand-by status until it receives the audio signal on the input. The registra-
tion stops at the end of the time available.
Play the sample using key C3 of the keyboard.
To save the sample press SAVE/ENTER and enter the name using the keys of the keyboard and the CURSOR +/- push buttons.
If Master Folder is enabled (push button with LED lit) the file will be created in Folder 94 Sound. With Master Folder disabled the destina-
tion Folder can be selected by entering the number using the numeric keypad (STYLES push buttons).
